Berkeley Scott Recruitment is currently seeking a nursery cook for an ongoing weekly booking with our client near Edinburgh city centre. Pay rate for this role is £16.50 per hour with weekly payments made directly into your bank account. The working hours are Monday – Friday, 8am – 2pm and the site is easily accessible by public transport.

Key Responsibilities:

• 
  

  Prepare and cook healthy, balanced meals and snacks for up to 150 children

  
  


• 
  

  Plan weekly menus in line with dietary guidelines and allergy requirements

  
  


• 
  

  Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene (in line with Food Hygiene Rating and Environmental Health requirements)

  
  


• 
  

  Manage kitchen stock levels, ordering ingredients as needed within budget

  
  


• 
  

  Work closely with nursery staff to understand children’s dietary needs, allergies, and preferences

  
  


• 
  

  Keep accurate records of food temperatures, cleaning schedules, and allergen information

  
  

Requirements:

• 
  

  Previous experience as a chef or cook, ideally in a childcare, school, or healthcare setting

  
  


• 
  

  Knowledge of child nutrition and portion control

  
  


• 
  

  Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 (Level 3 desirable)

  
  


• 
  

  Awareness of allergen legislation

  
  


• 
  

  Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  
  


• 
  

  A passion for healthy cooking and working with children
