Your New Team
You will be joining European Energy UK Limited, consisting of 21 colleagues working principally from our office in Glasgow. You will have various interfaces with the other teams in the business, have numerous opportunities to define your role, and grow as a professional.
Your New Role
European Energy have been focused on development of utility scale solar projects in the UK to date. Now with a strong pipeline of projects to build over the coming 3-5 years, we would like to significantly expand our wind and hydrogen activities. This creates an opportunity to join European Energy UK Limited´s business as Wind Development Manager reporting directly to the company’s Development Director.
You will have a broad and varied range of responsibilities, from supporting our origination and grid managers to securing new opportunities, to leading project development activities for a range of technologies through to the ready-to-build (RTB) stage. While focused on wind, there may also be opportunities to diversify your skillset and provide support to the solar portfolio.
We see projects through, and after consent has been achieved, your role will encompass planning condition discharge, identifying project risks and supporting our inhouse Engineering and Construction teams during the pre-construction and construction phases to ensure that projects are delivered according to planning consent until successful handover to our Asset Management team.
The ideal candidate will have a track record in UK-based renewable energy project development and be able to manage stakeholders, driving forward all development activity and successfully navigating the consenting phase.
Areas Of Responsibilities
- QHSE – Support and contribute to a strong culture of safety; prioritize quality, health, safety & environment; ensure our QHSE values flow through all aspects of project identification and development
- Initiation- Define scope and objectives of the project to ensure successful outcomes
- Business case – Develop financial models, create budgets, produce investment appraisals; identify project success criteria and present these to the country manager to achieve a financial investment decision
- Planning- Manage projects from their earliest development stage, and create relevant project plans to ensure sufficient resource allocation and scheduling details
- Risk Management – Identify, monitor, assess, and manage all risks and issues with clear reporting, communication, and prioritization
- Negotiation - Engage with various stakeholders and negotiate land agreements, leases, access and cable easements
- Handover - Plan the transition into the construction phase well in advance, working closely with European Energy’s EPC department to prepare for a comprehensive handover
Your Profile
- You have a relevant bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Law, Land, Property, Planning, or a related Environmental discipline
- You have +2 years of relevant experience within renewable energy or infrastructure projects
- You have experience of negotiating land agreements and planning energy process
- Development experience of wind/hydrogen projects an advantage
- Knowledge of appeals, S36 (including Inquiries) and NSIP would be of benefit
- You are fluent in English, both verbally and in writing
- You have a valid driving license
- You are proactive, diligent, and have high work ethic
- You can balance quality in the context of time & cost pressure
