Purpose of the role:

To take responsibility for selling and delivering high quality, innovative and profitable Geoscience services to internal and external clients and to assist with the development and maintenance of client relationships. To identify opportunities, win work, manage and participate in a wide variety of consultancy projects involving analysis, design, advice and technical review.

To develop, mentor and lead a competent, effective and motivated multi-disciplined Geoscience team, delivering technical leadership to ensure standardisation and consistency.

Duties and Responsibilities:

In consultation with the Location Manager, Business Stream Director and Business Line Leads:

Geoscience Leadership:

  • Develop and lead a competent, effective, appropriately skilled and motivated multi-discipline UK Geoscience team that meets the needs of the business
  • Provide Geoscience technical leadership, guidance and advice to clients and colleagues
  • Provide oversight of the technical and service delivery of the Geoscience team ensuring compliance with business management system
  • Take responsibility for attainment of service quality, health and safety, financial targets and other KPIs
  • Oversee Geoscience project workload amongst Geoscience staff and subcontractors
  • Liaise with business stream directors, leads and other GM offices worldwide to deliver global projects using the most appropriate resources
  • In consultation with the Business Line Leads, identify specific training requirements for delivery of Geoscience Services and participate in the appraisal of staff performance
  • Provide oversight of forecasting of future Geoscience workload and identify future resourcing levels and skillsets required to meet workload and capability requirements
  • Lead recruitment initiatives to ensure the team is resourced with appropriate capacity, skills and experience according to the budget.

Business Development:

  • Work with the business development team to identify, document and pursue new and existing business opportunities for Geoscience Services in order to achieve growth targets
  • Actively cross-sell Global Maritime’s full range of business stream services.
  • Take responsibility for coordination of and preparing UK Geoscience work scope proposals, including cost and deadline estimation.

Delivery of Geoscience and Consultancy Services:

  • Participate in a wide variety of Geoscience projects and other consultancy services as required.

Specific Skills, Knowledge and Experience required:

  • Bachelor or Master of Science in relevant Geoscience discipline
  • Member of a professional institution and Chartered with a recognised Geoscience professional institution or with required levels of experience
  • Breadth and depth of experience in the offshore sector on worldwide projects, with experience in offshore wind considered highly advantageous
  • Proven track record and experience in area of expertise and high level of awareness and technical understanding across all Geoscience disciplines
  • Ability to challenge industry standards and codes, justifying alternative approaches with defined benefits
  • Extensive experience of project management from opportunity identification through to project delivery covering a range of project sizes
  • Advanced user of software in area of expertise and an awareness of the range of Geoscience software and their limitations
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office software
  • Right to live and work in the United Kingdom.

Health, Safety, Environment and Quality

To champion the Company’s Health & Safety requirements with particular regard to agreed codes of practice and safe methods of working. Ensure the group Business Management System is followed in area of responsibility and prepare for and assist during DNV External and other Audits. Maintain a high-quality standard for deliverables.
