Where will you be working?

We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. We’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure.

This role will be within our Water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.

This role will be within our Caledonia Water Alliance contract, working out of Stepps, Glasgow depot.

What will you be doing?

  • We’ll teach you how to repair, Install or construct waste water network infrastructure (planned)
  • You’ll learn how to interpret utility plans and adhere to safety procedures
  • You’ll need to work to deadlines and ensure tasks are complete within programme.
  • You’ll be taught to understand and complete method statements and risk assessment
  • We’ll show you how to identify any key risks and hazards, and how to report any near misses in line with our health & safety policies and procedures.
  • Safety is our licence to operate! You’ll champion health and safety standards to ensure a safe working environment.
  • We’ll also be teaching you how to perform civil work tasks, such as working in confined spaces and at heights when required!

What You’ll Bring

  • Be at least 18 years of age at the time the apprenticeship program commences
  • Valid Driving Licence
  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Achieved grade 4-9 in English and Maths or be willing to undertake Functional Skills, which is equivalent to GCSE qualifications
  • Be able to travel to your depot or work site every day, potentially at unsocial hours
  • Be prepared to travel and stay away from home to undertake block release training and development sessions.
  • Demonstrate an interest and enthusiasm to work outdoors
  • Possess a high degree of manual dexterity demonstrated through the use of hand tools
  • As the role involves manual labour, including lifting, bending, and working outdoors in various weather conditions, we’ll need you to have a level of fitness which will allow you to complete tasks safely.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Keen to learn with an interest in development and progression
  • Passionate about the industry
  • Hardworking
  • Reliable, with excellent attendance and timekeeping
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Must have a ‘can do’ attitude
