Job DescriptionEngineering Manager – Shiplift Safety
Join our Design Authority (DA) team as Engineering Manager overseeing the Shiplift Safety Justification Plan (SJP). You'll lead safety case production, manage engineering workstreams, and ensure safe delivery of Ship lift programmes through to end-of-life.
What You’ll Do:
Lead the Shiplift Safety Justification Plan (SJP)
Manage engineering inputs across all Ship lift programmes
Guide Safety Case & Design Engineers
Collaborate with stakeholders across the project lifecycle
Promote safety, compliance, and best practices
Strong engineering leadership in safety-critical environments
Experience in safety case management and stakeholder engagement
Knowledge of Design Authority responsibilities & standards

QualificationsEssential Skills & Experience
Degree in Engineering or a related field
Chartered Engineer (or working towards it with solid CPD)
Strong knowledge of nuclear regulatory compliance
Desirable Experience
In-depth knowledge of Design Authority (DA) roles & nuclear safety cases
Project engineering & site integration
Technical assurance and compliance with industry legislation
Authoring technical reports, specs, and queries
Experience in regulated environments
Stakeholder engagement across disciplines
Basic H&S training for site work
Mentoring and supervising engineers
Organised, detail-oriented, with top-tier written & verbal communication
Predominantly WFH. Monthly travel to site for some key meetings etc is required.
Sole UK National, SC clearance required to start
