Technical Director - Peatland Hydrology

Glasgow (Hybrid Working Available)

Permanent | Full-Time

£55,000 - £65,000

This is a rare chance to step into a senior role where your expertise in peatland hydrology will actually steer the direction of both projects and people.

We're looking for a Technical Director who's ready to lead from the front-whether that's shaping restoration strategies, guiding junior consultants, or representing the team with clients and stakeholders. You'll be part of a growing environmental consultancy that values both scientific integrity and commercial sense-where teamwork takes priority over titles, and collaboration drives success. This isn't a company with layers of red tape or endless corporate jargon. It's a place where your ideas will matter, and where you'll be supported in growing your technical influence, commercial confidence, and leadership voice.

Your Role Will Include

  • Leading technical work on peatland hydrology and restoration-from early-stage assessments to delivery and reporting.
  • Overseeing project inputs such as hydrological surveys, peatland management plans, EIAR chapters, and feasibility reports.
  • Acting as a senior point of contact for clients, regulators, and stakeholders across renewable energy, infrastructure, and land use sectors.
  • Supporting and mentoring colleagues at all levels, helping to build confidence and close technical skill gaps within the team.
  • Contributing to business development-scoping work, writing bids, and building trusted client relationships.
  • Playing an active role in how the team improves, evolves, and succeeds.

What You'll Bring

  • Significant experience in peatland hydrology (typically 10-15+ years).
  • A relevant degree; postgraduate qualification or PhD a plus.
  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional body.
  • Solid understanding of environmental policy and planning frameworks in the UK.
  • Hands-on experience with peatland and soils-related reporting (e.g. PLHRA, GWDTE, PWS).
  • Clear, confident communication skills-and experience working directly with regulatory bodies.
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset with a genuine interest in helping others grow.

What You'll Get In Return

  • £55,000 - £65,000
  • Flexible hybrid working (Glasgow base with home-working options)
  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays (with increases over time)
  • 20 days per year CPD time
  • Paid professional membership
  • Private medical insurance

If you're ready to take the lead on impactful environmental work-and help shape the future of a forward-thinking consultancy-we'd love to hear from you.
