GTG Training is seeking an Automotive Heavy Vehicle Technical Trainer to join our team based in Glasgow.

Hours
Full-time: Monday – Friday, 8am – 4.30pm. Overtime may occasionally be required.
About the role
The successful candidate will train apprentices or commercial delegates to industry standards at GTG’s training centre, supporting their attainment of accredited qualifications.
Applicants should have proven experience in heavy vehicle maintenance, knowledge of current technology including electrical diagnosis, and hold a Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair qualification or equivalent. Training experience is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided to the right candidate. All applicants must demonstrate occupational competence in heavy vehicle maintenance at interview.
- Deliver training safely, adhering to health and safety, COSHH, and other regulations
- Utilize effective training and education methods
- Prepare and employ training aids appropriately
- Support the Team Leader and Automotive Training Manager in maintaining discipline and compliance
- Map trainee progress and complete necessary documentation
- Assess trainees’ knowledge, skills, and behaviors against industry standards and OFSTED guidelines
- Contribute to the development of training and assessment resources
- Keep training methods current with technological advances and vocational CPD
- Provide welfare support and guidance to apprentices and employers
Essential skills
- Industry-recognized Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair qualification or equivalent
- English and Maths at Level 2 or equivalent
- Proven expertise in electrical diagnosis and automotive technology
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Enthusiasm and dedication
- Full UK driving license for the subject area
- Teaching qualification (training and qualification will be provided if not held)
- Recent experience in English and Maths (training and qualification will be provided if not held)
- Experience working with apprentices or young people
- Assessing or TAQA qualification
- First aid certification
