Job Title: Health Care Support Workers (HCSW) - School Immunisation Team

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million, expanding to 2.2 million with regional and national services.


This is a permanent, term-time position with the following shift pattern: Monday to Friday, 08:30-16:30/16:00, from mid-August to mid-April, under annualised contract terms.


Role Overview

We are seeking 2 Health Care Support Workers to join the School Immunisation Team. HCSWs are responsible for supporting immunisation sessions, maintaining cold chain procedures, stock management, and communicating effectively with children, young people, education colleagues, parents, and carers. They contribute to the safe and efficient delivery of immunisations across Greater Glasgow and Clyde.


Candidate Requirements


  • Experience working with children is preferred.

  • Interest in Public Health and teamwork skills.

  • Excellent communication skills and IT confidence.

  • Full training will be provided.


Service Area and Additional Notes

This role covers two of the four immunisation service areas, specifically the East Renfrewshire and South Glasgow Team, and requires cross-boundary working within NHS GG&C. The post requires PVG Scheme Membership / Disclosure Scotland Check.


The position is 37 hours per week, paid over 12 months but working only from mid-August to mid-April (8 months), with salary paid as 24.8 hours weekly.
