Job Title: Estates Manager

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million, extending to 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.


The shift pattern for this role is Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with an on-call requirement.


Role Overview

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Operational Estates is seeking an Estates Manager to oversee reactive and preventative maintenance within the hospital campus buildings.


Qualifications and Experience

  • Applicants should have, or be working towards, a degree in an engineering or building discipline.

  • The successful candidate will either currently hold an AfC Band 7 estates position within GG&C or possess the relevant educational qualifications and experience.


Key Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in building maintenance, complex electrical/engineering systems, and water systems in large healthcare premises.

  • Experience in estates management, statutory compliance, and operational guidance within a healthcare environment.


Skills and Competencies

  • Good communication and management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a demanding environment.

  • Ability to work independently, provide leadership, and foster positive relationships within and outside the organization.

  • Participation in the managers on-call rota is essential.
