Post: Clinical Development Fellow in Oncology

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million, expanding to 2.2 million with regional and national services.

Location: Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre

The Beatson Cancer Centre is seeking to appoint a Clinical Development Fellow. This program offers comprehensive training in all aspects of Oncology, with opportunities for placements in Palliative Medicine and Clinical Haematology. Under supervision from Oncology Consultants and Specialty Trainees, fellows will participate in patient management at ward level and may access outpatient clinics, radiotherapy, an Acute Oncology Assessment Unit, and an Enhanced Care Unit.

The Centre is organized around six wards (B1-B5 and B7), focusing on non-surgical cancer treatments. Fellows will primarily be based in wards B1, B2, B4, B5, and B7. A key component of this fellowship is career development, including CV enhancement, interview preparation, and audit projects that will be presented at national or international meetings.

Qualifications and Experience: Candidates should ideally possess MRCP (UK/I) or equivalent by the start of the post. Experience in Oncology, Palliative Medicine, or Clinical Haematology is advantageous. Career prospects in this expanding specialty are excellent.

Application Process: Interested applicants should contact:

  • Dr. N O’Rourke, Consultant Clinical Oncologist, 0141 301 7118

  • Dr. E Burns, Consultant Palliative Medicine, 0141 301 7042

  • Mrs. M Gray, Clinical Service Manager, 0141 301 7078

Applicants must hold GMC registration and a license to practice in the UK. Details for contacting the Recruitment Service can be found in the Candidate Information Packs.

We encourage applications from all community sections and promote a culture of inclusion. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is committed to being a Forces Friendly Employer, supporting military community applications.

Applicants must provide authentic responses to all questions in the application form. The use of AI or third-party tools to generate or modify responses is strongly discouraged and may lead to application withdrawal.
