Purpose of Role: As a Trainee Patent Paralegal, you will play a key role in supporting the Intellectual Property (IP) function across Weir’s Minerals and ESCO divisions. Working closely with experienced paralegals and patent attorneys, you’ll help safeguard Weir’s innovations by ensuring the smooth handling of patent-related processes and data. Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with patent attorneys, fellow paralegals, and business teams to support a wide range of intellectual property activities
  • Stay on top of deadlines through IP docketing, generating reports, and tracking key dates
  • Keep our systems sharp by maintaining accurate records and ensuring data integrity in our IP databases
  • Get hands-on with filings and admin from patent submissions to preparing presentations and handling vendor queries
  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviours in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

  • Degree preferred but not essential: relevant experience and a proactive, can-do attitude are equally valued
  • Detail-driven and dependable: accuracy and the ability to juggle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines are key
  • Familiarity with IP tools a bonus: knowledge of patent/trademark processes, Legal Tracker, or CPI is a plus.
