Purpose of the Role:

To carry out the installation, operational testing, and maintenance of industrial pumps and associated equipment, ensuring compliance with quality standards and health and safety regulations. The role involves working as part of a team to support continuous improvement, training, and cross-departmental collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install pumps and ancillary equipment for testing, including setting and securing temporary foundations, aligning rotors, and installing pipework.

  • Connect services necessary to support lubrication and cooling systems where applicable.

  • Participate in operational testing by monitoring and controlling key test parameters such as temperature and pressure to ensure they remain within specified limits.

  • Identify and report non-conformance in a timely manner using appropriate channels, and collaborate with others to ensure resolution.

  • Dismantle temporary test setups post-test and ensure all equipment is correctly stored according to departmental procedures.

  • Ensure high standards of personal workmanship, perform self-inspections, and complete all required documentation and checklists.

  • Conduct maintenance activities on test department equipment to support maximum reliability and operational availability.

  • Engage in continuous improvement activities aimed at enhancing safety, reducing cost, and improving productivity.

  • Provide support in other assembly areas as operational needs dictate.

  • Work closely with management and colleagues to support the implementation of company policies and objectives.

  • Comply with all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.

  • Support and mentor apprentices and less experienced colleagues as required.

  • Be willing and available to undertake additional training (internal or external) to support personal and professional development.

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

  • Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering or a related field.

  • Experience with mechanical assembly, pump installation, or similar industrial equipment testing.

  • Heavy Engineering desirable
