Following our recent acquisition of the St. Enoch Centre, we are hiring a Senior Building Surveyor to be based on-site in Glasgow. This is a landmark hire—the first Building Surveyor in our Scottish operations—and a rare opportunity to shape and influence the future of a major city centre asset from the ground up.


You’ll be joining an established national team of Surveyors and Project Managers, with close collaboration across our London and Manchester offices, while enjoying the autonomy and visibility that comes with being the senior surveying lead on-site.


About the Role:


This role will be multifaceted in that the primary purpose will be to manage projects within the shopping centre, ranging from small maintenance works to major refurbishment and development pieces, but also to provide building and construction advice to the internal Centre Management Team, Investment Management and Asset Management teams on all aspects of planning, refurbishment, development and project delivery across the retail and business portfolio.


Utilising your demonstrable, strong knowledge base, you will be responsible for enabling successful project completion in an attractive, cost-effective, and value-add manner, in line with the overarching business plan which we are all working towards.

Working Pattern: On-Site at St Enoch with occasional travel


Responsibilities:



  • To play an active role in the planning and delivery of sustainable refurbishments throughout our current and future portfolio

  • Conduct pre-acquisition due diligence by reviewing building and M&E surveys

  • Advise on refurbishment costs for business plans and manage refurbishment projects within budget and timelines

  • Appoint consultants, inspect properties, and negotiate settlements for dilapidations claims

  • Provide general advice on building-related matters, including tenant alterations and repairs

  • Direct Facilities Managers on lower value maintenance contracts, emphasising value-added work.

  • Undertake financial appraisals and formulate project management strategies

  • Manage planning processes, collaborate with external consultants, and build relationships with authorities

  • Manage Building Warrant applications

  • Planning, drafting and programming PPM strategies. Implementing PPM works

  • Lead professional project teams and implement statutory procedures

  • Preparation and co-ordination of design information and contract documentation, administering the procurement and tendering of works and work packagers, Contract Administration of the works, financial control, through to completion and handover

  • Compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations

  • Party Wall surveys, preparation of notices and awards

  • Provide comprehensive project management, overseeing scope, programme, budget, and external input

  • Instruct, review site reports, and support Asset Managers in tenant documentation completion

  • Coordinate with the internal project management team for effective scheme handover and management

  • Ensure proper document management in compliance with PREM policy


Experience and skills:



  • Previous experience in building surveying within commercial property management

  • Strong work ethic and effective team collaboration across organisational sectors

  • Assertive leadership and strong knowledge base for guiding external consultants

  • Creative approach to delivering challenging development projects

  • Capacity to manage multiple diverse development projects concurrently

  • Exceptional negotiation skills and results-driven organization

  • MRICS qualification or equivalent in building/project management

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills

  • Effective time management and ability to work autonomously

  • Commitment to health and safety, financial compliance, and commercial awareness
