A Day in the Life at hazel

Duties

Reporting to the Executive Head Chef & Chef de Cuisine, you can expect your working day to include the following duties:

• Preparing ingredients and assisting with food preparation across all kitchen sections.
• Ensuring a clean and organised workstation at all times.
• Supporting senior chefs in delivering high-quality dishes in line with Hazel's standards.
• Receiving and storing deliveries while maintaining hygiene and food safety.
• Following instructions and being proactive in learning new skills and kitchen techniques.
  
  

The successful applicant for this role will deliver excellent teamwork, have a positive ‘can do’ attitude, be eager to learn, and show a genuine care for the guest experience.

What we need from you!

To succeed in the role of Commis Chef, you will need the following qualities and skills:

• A keen interest in food preparation and culinary techniques.
• The ability to follow instructions and work efficiently under pressure.
• A proactive and flexible approach to assisting the kitchen team.
• A willingness to learn and develop within a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• A team player who thrives in a busy, collaborative setting.
• A basic understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety standards.
• Previous kitchen experience is desirable but not essential – we’ll support the right attitude with the right training.
