Our client, a highly respected civil engineering contractor, is looking to expand its team with the addition of a Senior Estimator with on-site experience within the civil engineering sector, based in Glasgow.

Role Overview:As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for producing detailed and accurate estimates from first principles, identifying both client requirements and potential business risks. Working closely with the senior management team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Effective registration, control, and administration of tender documentation

  • Engaging with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to secure best-value pricing

  • Identifying and analysing both risks and opportunities during the tender process

  • Leading the estimating process from project inception through to final submission

  • Developing cost plans and analysing contract budgets

  • Preparing and agreeing detailed work packages with clients

  • Producing cost-effective tenders from first principles, including take-offs from drawings

  • Analysing and pricing risk effectively

  • Compiling tender submission documents and detailed estimating reports

  • Supporting proposal development and contract management activities

  • Managing estimating functions across multiple projects at various stages

  • Liaising regularly with both senior management and site teams

Required Skills and Experience:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent experience in a similar estimating role

  • Proven ability to price projects from first principles and prepare detailed cost plans

  • Strong background in estimating within civil engineering projects

  • Experience working on frameworks and negotiated contracts

  • Proficient in Conquest and on-screen take-off software

  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills

  • A methodical approach combined with strong interpersonal abilities
