Financial Controller/Head of Finance – UK & Ireland Operations Location: Remote (occasional travel required), but can be office based if preffered. You will play a pivotal role in shaping financial strategy, planning, compliance, and operational leadership across a major UK division. The OpportunityAs Financial Controller, you will be a senior member of the finance function, leading a team of 11 and overseeing monthly reporting, business planning, and statutory compliance. You will also partner closely with divisional and executive leadership.
This strategic role is not transactional; it focuses on financial governance, FP&A, risk management, and performance improvement across a large, operationally diverse business unit. The position is remote, with occasional travel, and offers significant exposure to UK & Ireland and international stakeholders. However if the successful candidate preferred it can be office based.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead monthly reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning for a business unit generating over £450 million in revenue
Ensure a strong financial control environment and full compliance with US GAAP and internal standards
Oversee statutory accounts, internal and external audits, and tax submissions, working in collaboration with shared service centres
Serve as deputy to the Finance Director, representing finance in cross-functional and board-level meetings
Collaborate with operations, strategic accounts, and regional leadership to deliver insights and drive performance
Manage and develop a team of Finance Managers and Contract AccountantsDrive improvements in financial systems and reporting processes, including SAP and BPCCandidate ProfileFully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with at least six years of post-qualification experience
Experience within a large, multi-site, B2B or service-oriented organisation
Proven track record in financial leadership, team management, and strategic reporting
Strong understanding of controls, compliance, audit, and tax requirements
Commercially astute with excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
Experience with SAP or equivalent enterprise systems is highly desirable
