This is a permanent role and this client is open to a fully remote candidate based in the UK or someone based in London who is open to hybrid work. Your Responsibilities: As Senior Backend PHP Developer, you will be working closely with the Development Team and Infrastructure Team to work on their tech stack and projects.

What you'll be doing:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend applications using PHP, Python, and Java.

  • Build and optimise RESTful APIs and microservices to support robust application functionality.

  • Work on projects deployed on AWS-based infrastructure.

  • Collaborate closely with the Development and Infrastructure Teams to ensure project success and client satisfaction.

  • Write and maintain clear, comprehensive technical documentation for seamless team collaboration and knowledge sharing.

  • Stay up to date with the latest trends in backend development, cloud computing, and DevOps to enhance system design and team capabilities.

What You Should Bring? We're looking for a hands-on Senior Backend Developer with DevOps experience, possessing the following:

  • Proven expertise (5+ years) in backend development with proficiency in PHP and experience in Python or Java as a plus.

  • Familiarity with PHP frameworks, preferably Laravel.

  • In-depth knowledge of relational databases (MySQL) and NoSQL systems (e.g., Elasticsearch).

  • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and AWS ECS.

  • Experience with AWS-based cloud infrastructure is a plus, including designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable solutions.

  • Solid understanding of SaaS architecture, microservices design, and distributed application development.

  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle processes, including requirements gathering, issue tracking, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed, effective technical decisions.

  • Clear and professional communication skills in English for collaboration with an international team.

  • Experience in cybersecurity or knowledge of security frameworks is a significant advantage.
