Job Overview
Job purpose
The Apprentice Greenkeeper will work alongside the Course Manager and other members of the team in ensuring that the Golf Course is maintained to the highest standard with regard to presentation and safety.
As an Apprentice Greenkeeper this is a fantastic opportunity for you to gain hands-on greenkeeping experience whilst working towards your qualification.
Supported and guided by the Course Manager and senior staff, training will include: routine maintenance, cutting greens/tees/fairways, maintaining equipment, Health and Safety and more.
The Apprentice Greenkeeper position would suit a candidate looking to start a career in greenkeeping or maybe a career change. No experience would be required as full on the job training will be provided. Enjoyment of working outdoors and an understanding of golf would be helpful. Applicants should be self-motivated, hardworking, enthusiastic and comfortable working individually and as part of a team.
You will be expected to work an average of 40 hours per week, including weekend work from time to time.
The successful candidate will attend college and work towards gaining SVQ Level 2 (SCQF 5) & LEVEL 3 (SCQF 6) in Sports Turf Maintenance. This is a great opportunity to obtain a formal qualification in greenkeeping.
