The Royal Hospital for Children (RHC) is Scotland’s largest centre for paediatric care with staff providing an internationally recognised range of children’s health and maternity services to the local and national community. Our new hospital opened its doors in 2015 and boasts one of the most significant skill bases in Europe, with some of the best facilities available. We are committed to a progressive approach to Paediatric care and are looking for the right people with the same dedication to join us.
We have 2 vacancies within our Paediatric Diabetes Nursing Team. The GGC Diabetes Service is situated in the West Glasgow Ambulatory Care Hospital site and provides out-patient care there, and over a further 2 main sites RAH Paisley and IRH Greenock. Satellite clinics are also provided in Oban and the Western Isles. The successful candidate will be expected to work between these sites, whilst providing care to in-patients at the RHC. The service is hospital based, however the varied role of the CNS Diabetes means that education and care can also be delivered by telephone, virtually, email, in the home, school and other community settings. The successful candidate will have opportunity to extend their current knowledge and be part of an exciting escalation and roll out of modern technologies and advances in diabetes care.
We are looking for 2 - Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) who is highly motivated, dynamic and with experience in diabetes/chronic care to join the diabetes nursing service. Applicants relevant post registration clinical experience. The successful candidate will be RN / Child Branch qualified, working to degree level and will be committed to enhancing nursing practice. Evidence of recent academic learning and professional development essential. Applicants will be part of a multidisciplinary team and should be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families and colleagues. Successful applicant will also have excellent management and problem solving skills and be approachable and confident.
Hours will be flexible to meet the needs of the diabetes service and a percentage of your time will be spent in the ward environment. Driving licence essential.
