Your impact
The Principal hydroecologist role is an exciting opportunity to use your hydroecology expertise to assess the impact of abstraction for UK water companies. Principally, the role will focus on undertaking sustainability assessments under the Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP). You will bring demonstrable experience in low flow investigations focussing on the relationship between ecology and riverine flows. You will be familiar with Water framework Directive (WFD) standards and thresholds and use of the River Invertebrate Classification Tool (RICT) to interpret and classify ecological data. Expertise in designing and undertaking environmental surveys and interpreting outputs would be advantageous. In addition there will be opportunity for you to supporting assessment of ongoing Strategic Resource Option (SRO) projects, contributing to river restoration design and undertaking independent auditing of water company Performance Commitments. The ability to develop networks across disciplines within the business will set you apart from others. Our projects are complex in nature and you will be required to work with other disciplines to create effective solutions. This role will work alongside a dedicated team of experts in freshwater ecology, hydrology, hydrogeology and geomorphology to form an interdisciplinary team.
We value collaboration and believe that in-person interactions are crucial for both our culture and client delivery. We empower employees with our hybrid working policy, allowing them to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations enabling them to deliver their best work.
