Help us create a better future, quicker
Join us at ScottishPower as a local subject matter expert in Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) and large-scale language model (LLM) platforms and services. Play a pivotal role in accelerating the adoption and migration to cloud solutions, driving the Digital Transformation of ScottishPower in alignment with the Iberdrola Group's goals.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, advise on the design, development, and implementation of GenAI and Cloud services, platforms, and solutions from a multi-cloud perspective, specifically focusing on AWS and Azure. Ensure that time-to-delivery meets business needs, and when expectations are unrealistic, clearly articulate and defend the reasons, providing counter proposals as necessary.
Collaborate with the AI enablement hub to develop strategic plans for the evolution and improvement of ScottishPower’s GenAI environments, ensuring the secure management of corporate systems. Focus on the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of GenAI data and services, ensuring compliance with the Iberdrola Group's policies and regulations, as well as sectoral regulations and market standards. This will involve defining and implementing controls and metrics to evaluate and ensure their correct implementation and compliance.
As a key member of the Digital Transformation Cloud Centre of Competency, provide technical leadership and guidance to multiple projects. Enforce standards, review and approve the design of solutions within the generative AI domain, and manage relationships with suppliers to stay updated on new developments. Technical expertise will assist in resolving escalated operational problems and restoring service to customers. Also review and approve technology domain-related changes to the IT estate, assess and act on FinOps suggestions for platform and service resizing, and provide technical input to architectural planning and procurement activities.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for someone who is an ambassador for Digital Transformation, self-driven, accountable, and responsible for all Digital Transformation engagements. Delivery-oriented, empathetic to the needs and demands of the ScottishPower business, capable of managing change, comfortable with ambiguity, and good at building relationships and engendering trust and confidence. Actively engage as the internal escalation point for cloud engineers and deployment engineers of our third-party support organizations, supervise the work of third-party or contract employees, and provide expert advice on generative AI platform architecture to Digital Transformation technical teams and projects. As a domain expert within ScottishPower, contribute to internal social channels and occasionally deliver presentations to management and CoE representatives.
The Iberdrola group is an AWS-first organization, but Azure is also a significant part of our cloud infrastructure estate. We are looking for strong Kubernetes (EKS) management skills for deploying AI models in containerized environments, experience with serverless architectures using AWS Lambda for AI inference, and cost optimization leveraging AWS Compute Optimizer, Cost Explorer, and Reserved Instances. Experience with CI/CD pipeline implementation, advanced monitoring with Amazon CloudWatch, efficient log management, infrastructure automation using Terraform, and expertise with Amazon SageMaker and Amazon Bedrock is essential. Familiarity with AWS AI services, AWS data services, and AWS security best practices is required. Hands-on experience with serverless architectures, microservices, and containers is necessary, along with excellent communication skills and the ability to operate at both technical and senior managerial levels. Proficiency in Spanish is advantageous, and a flexible attitude to work and a desire to collaborate with Iberdrola colleagues in Spain is essential.
If you are ready to take on this exciting challenge and drive the Digital Transformation of ScottishPower, we want to hear from you!
