Cyber Data Engineer (Security Analytics Platform)

A leading global financial services firm is preparing to expand its Glasgow-based Cyber Security Technology division. Operating within a globally distributed squad, this team is responsible for architecting and maintaining the high-scale data analytics platforms that safeguard the firm's global infrastructure. While this position is not yet live, we are actively mapping market talent to ensure immediate selection once the project triggers.

Role Overview

This position focuses on the engineering, automation, and performance tuning of massive security data pipelines. It offers an intense technical learning curve, embedding you within a highly specialized unit dedicated to advanced cyber threat detection and platform stability.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Pipeline Engineering: Onboard complex, diverse enterprise data sources, developing precise field extractions and data normalisation pipelines.
• Infrastructure Automation: Code and maintain automation tools that integrate seamlessly with configuration management frameworks and internal APIs.
• Platform Performance Tuning: Diagnose throughput bottlenecks, optimise query performance, and tune large-scale analytics platforms for speed and reliability.
• Tier-3 Escalation Support: Act as a senior technical escalation point to resolve complex platform, infrastructure, and networking anomalies.

Required Skills

• Infrastructure as Code & Automation: Proficient scripting capabilities in Python, coupled with hands-on automation experience utilizing Ansible or Terraform.
• Systems & Networking Foundation: Robust understanding of Linux/Unix system administration, network protocols (HTTP), and enterprise encryption standards.
• DevOps Engineering: Strong command of software version control, CI/CD deployment pipelines, and Agile/Kanban methodologies (Git, Jenkins, Jira).

Desirable Skills

• Analytics Platforms: Previous experience managing large-scale Elasticsearch or Splunk deployments (Admin/Architect certifications are highly regarded).
• Cloud & Cyber Concepts: Exposure to major CSP data pipelines (AWS/GCP/Azure) and a foundational awareness of cybersecurity event monitoring.
