Senior Business Systems Analyst
Rate: up to £410 per day inside IR35
Location: Glasgow City Centre
Duration: initial contract to December 2026
Working model: 2 to 3 days per week onsite (Hybrid)
Role overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Business Systems Analyst to support delivery within a complex technology and applications environment. This role would suit a technically strong Business Analyst with a solid background in software, systems, applications, integrations and end-to-end delivery.
You will act as the bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams, ensuring business requirements are understood, documented, and translated into effective technical solutions. Support the delivery of critical student finance services through analysis, process improvement, system enhancement, and change delivery.
The environment is predominantly based around Java and Oracle, with exposure to more modern integration technologies such as MuleSoft. Candidates do not need to be hands-on developers, but they must be comfortable working with technical teams and able to understand complex systems, data flows and integration points.
Key Responsibilities
- Elicit, analyse and document business requirements.
- Facilitate workshops with business and technical stakeholders.
- Produce user stories, process maps, functional specifications and acceptance criteria.
- Work closely with Product Owners, Developers, Testers and Delivery Managers.
- Analyse existing business processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support Agile delivery teams through backlog refinement and sprint activities.
- Assist with solution design and ensure requirements are fully traceable.
- Support UAT planning, execution and defect management.
- Manage stakeholder expectations across multiple business areas.
- Produce high-quality documentation and reporting.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong Business Analysis experience within an IT environment.
- Experience across the full project lifecycle.
- Strong requirements gathering and documentation skills.
- Agile delivery experience (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to analyse complex business problems and propose practical solutions.
- Experience facilitating workshops and driving consensus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
- Experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, SharePoint and Visio.
- Strong understanding of SDLC and testing processes.
Desirable
- Financial services, banking or public sector experience.
- Experience working with payment, finance or regulatory systems.
- Understanding of cloud technologies and modern software delivery.
- Data analysis and reporting experience.
- BCS or IIBA Business Analysis qualifications.
