OverviewOur client is a highly successful and established UK-focused business with annual revenues exceeding £50 million. As part of its continued growth strategy, the company is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Business Development Manager to strengthen key client relationships, identify new market opportunities, and support the delivery of sustainable business growth.
This is a relationship-led role focused on account management, client engagement, networking, and opportunity development. The successful candidate will act as a key ambassador for the business, maintaining a strong presence within the market, building trusted relationships with clients and industry stakeholders, and supporting the conversion of opportunities through close collaboration with the wider business.
Key ResponsibilitiesClient Relationship Management- Manage and develop relationships with key existing clients across the UK.
- Conduct regular client meetings to strengthen partnerships and identify future opportunities.
- Act as a trusted point of contact, ensuring clients receive a high level of service and engagement.
- Develop and maintain strategic account plans for key customers.
- Monitor client satisfaction and proactively address any concerns or emerging issues.
- Identify and track new business opportunities within target sectors and markets.
- Monitor tender portals and procurement activity to identify upcoming opportunities.
- Maintain awareness of competitor activity, market trends, and industry developments.
- Support business growth initiatives through market research and intelligence gathering.
- Provide regular reporting and updates on pipeline activity and business development performance.
- Represent the business at industry events, conferences, exhibitions, and networking functions.
- Organise and attend client entertainment activities, including sporting events, hospitality functions, and corporate networking events.
- Build and maintain a strong professional network across relevant sectors.
- Promote the company's brand and value proposition within the marketplace.
- Work closely with Business Directors to develop and execute growth strategies.
- Collaborate with the Head of Marketing to align business development activities with marketing campaigns and brand initiatives.
- Support the Bids and Proposals Team by identifying opportunities and contributing to bid strategies.
- Ensure seamless communication between clients and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within the company CRM system.
- Track all client interactions, opportunities, and business development activities.
- Produce regular pipeline reports and forecasts.
- Ensure market intelligence and opportunity data is captured and shared effectively across the business.
- Proven experience within a Business Development, Key Account Management, Client Relationship, or Commercial role.
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrable experience managing and growing key client accounts.
- Excellent networking and interpersonal abilities.
- Comfortable representing a business at client events, hospitality functions, and industry gatherings.
- Experience identifying and tracking tender opportunities.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience using CRM systems and maintaining accurate client records.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of business growth strategies.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
