Generative AI Engineer - #2091513

We're seeking a Lead AI Engineer to design, build, and scale AI-powered solutions that deliver real business value. You'll combine hands-on development with technical leadership, driving the adoption of Generative AI and LLM technologies across this global organisation based in Glasgow

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver secure, scalable AI and LLM-powered applications
• Build production-ready solutions using modern AI architectures
• Collaborate with Product, Data, and Operations teams to identify AI opportunities
• Optimise solutions for performance, reliability, security, accuracy, and cost
• Lead AI projects from prototype through to production
• Define engineering standards, best practices, and technical roadmaps
• Mentor developers and provide technical leadership
• Evaluate AI tools, frameworks, cloud platforms, and infrastructure
• Ensure quality through testing, code reviews, monitoring, and observability
• Promote responsible and secure AI development

In order to be successful in the role, candidates ideally need

• Hands-on experience with Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs)
• Experience with RAG, prompt engineering, AI evaluation, embeddings, and vector search
• Knowledge of AI infrastructure, vector databases, and AI agent frameworks
• Strong development skills in Python, TypeScript, Node.js, React and/or .NET
• Experience with REST APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases, Git, CI/CD, and cloud platforms
• Understanding of secure and responsible AI principles
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience mentoring or leading engineers
• Passion for AI and emerging technologies
