The Opportunity
We are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong accounting experience who enjoys working in a varied role covering management accounts, ledger management, reconciliations and financial reporting. The successful candidate will be a proactive team player with the ability to work independently and manage their workload effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly management accounts, including:
- Profit & Loss
- Balance Sheets
- Variance Analysis
- Management and reconciliation of the general ledger
- Full responsibility for sales Ledger and purchase ledger processes
- Reconciliation of multiple bank accounts and balance sheet accounts
- Investigation and resolution of aged items and outstanding balances
- Raising invoices and ensuring accurate revenue recognition
- Managing credit control activities and resolving payment queries
- Maintaining the fixed asset register
- Inputting financial information into the company reporting system
- Identifying opportunities to improve, streamline and automate finance processes
- Supporting year-end accounting requirements and external audit activities
- Ensuring all reporting deadlines are met in line with agreed timetables
- Assisting with a range of finance-related activities and ad hoc projects as required
- Ad hoc duties as required
About You
To be considered for this role, you should have:
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a similar Finance Officer, Assistant Accountant or Management Accountant position
- Experience preparing accounts to trial balance
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and month-end processes
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
- A proactive and responsive approach to work
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to build effective working relationships across the business
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
