We are seeking a Category Manager to drive value, innovation, and service excellence across the supply chain. Through strategic category management, supplier segmentation, and market analysis, you will identify opportunities to improve performance, strengthen supplier relationships, reduce risk, and deliver sustainable commercial value.
Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you will lead sourcing activities, influence key decisions, and ensure the supply chain supports organisational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement category and sourcing strategies that maximise value, reduce risk, and support business goals.
- Analyse and segment suppliers using commercial, operational, and risk factors, implementing appropriate supplier management approaches.
- Build and manage strategic supplier relationships to drive performance, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Provide expert procurement, commercial, and contractual advice to stakeholders and lead strategic supplier reviews.
- Identify market trends, efficiencies, and category opportunities that deliver commercial and operational benefits.
- Lead tendering activities, ensuring robust evaluation and selection of best-value solutions.
- Negotiate supplier contracts and commercial agreements to secure favourable outcomes and cost savings.
- Work with the Strategic Purchasing Manager to set and deliver annual savings and value targets.
- Maintain reporting frameworks that demonstrate savings, value delivered, and performance against objectives.
- Develop stakeholder engagement plans that support collaboration and alignment with business priorities.
- Promote best-practice procurement, category management, and supplier relationship management across the organisation.
Additional Responsibilities
Undertake other duties and projects appropriate to the role and business needs.

Essential Requirements
- Degree educated or equivalent professional experience.
- Professional qualification in Procurement and Supply, ideally CIPS qualified.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of procurement and category management principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and reporting.
Desirable Skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Strong negotiation, supplier relationship management, and commercial decision-making capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve successful commercial and operational outcomes
