Commercial Manager - E-Commerce - Food

• Annual Salary: £45,000

We are seeking a dedicated Commercial Manager to act as a customer expert and strategic partner, driving profitable growth and development. This role is pivotal in maintaining a strong, positive presence within the customer base and requires a robust focus on e-commerce execution, including availability, on-platform presence, and media return.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Maintain up-to-date sales and account plans, ensuring they are clearly tracked with actionable objectives.
• Develop a deep understanding of online retail dynamics, including search visibility, availability, content, and conversion drivers.
• Manage and optimise product performance on platforms, focusing on availability, pricing, and content.
• Build and strengthen relationships within customer accounts by understanding the customer, market, and wider industry.
• Drive sales growth and achieve targets through effective leadership of the Commercial team.
• Lead customer relationship development both directly and through the team.
• Maximise return on investment through strategic on-platform presence, media activity, and promotional execution.
• Support the planning and execution of online media investments, ensuring alignment with commercial priorities for strong ROI.
• Track, evaluate, and optimise campaign, promotional, and content performance to improve conversion and sales.
• Monitor availability and service performance, proactively identifying and resolving risks.
• Coordinate cross-functionally to ensure alignment between demand and supply.
• Develop and execute promotional and trading plans to maintain competitive positioning.
• Use data and insights to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, translating these into actionable plans.
• Manage profit, working closely with Finance to ensure margins are protected ahead of customer discussions.
• Ensure strong communication and alignment across all functions supporting the account.
• Lead and motivate the team, fostering a culture of professionalism and high performance.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong commercial background within a food manufacturing / FMCG environment, preferably with experience working with major retailers.
• Experience or strong understanding of e-commerce / online retail models is desirable.
• Demonstrable experience in influencing profitability and delivering year-on-year growth within Commercial management.
• Strong analytical skills, confident in working with data, performance metrics, and insights.
• Excellent relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
• Proven experience in managing commercial projects and campaigns.
• Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
• Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail, particularly in SKU management and promotional activity.
• Ability to perform to high standards in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and meet tight deadlines.
• Consumer-driven mindset with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships.
• Creative thinking skills with the ability to identify and unlock opportunities and develop supporting strategies.
