Join us as a DevOps Engineer, Network Automation

  • We're looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our Network Automation team, helping design, build and operate automation capabilities that make network and infrastructure services faster, safer and more reliable
  • You'll work across automation, infrastructure-as-code and network-as-code practices, supporting secure, compliant and auditable change within a highly regulated financial services environment
  • This is your opportunity to deepen your expertise across modern automation, cloud-native platforms and AI-enabled engineering while working on business-critical infrastructure

What you'll do

As a DevOps Engineer, you'll help develop and enhance automation patterns, pipelines and tools that support network and infrastructure services from concept through to operational support. Working closely with engineers, platform teams and service owners, you'll build reusable automation, improve delivery efficiency and embed DevOps best practice across the engineering lifecycle.

You'll also be:

  • Designing, building and maintaining network and infrastructure automation using modern DevOps practices
  • Delivering automation through code-based CI/CD pipelines, with GitLab experience helping you hit the ground running
  • Applying infrastructure-as-code and network-as-code principles to create repeatable, controlled and auditable delivery patterns
  • Embedding security, compliance and risk controls into automation and pipeline design
  • Supporting automated change, incident and operational workflows, including ServiceNow integration where appropriate
  • Working with container platforms such as OpenShift or Kubernetes to support automation services and workloads
  • Exploring practical uses of AI-enabled tooling and workflows to improve operational efficiency, engineering productivity and service reliability

The skills you'll need

We're looking for someone with hands-on engineering experience, a strong automation mindset and a solid understanding of enterprise networking. You'll be comfortable working in a DevOps environment where quality, security and operational resilience are built into every stage of delivery. You'll also bring experience of network automation within large-scale financial services or other regulated environments.

Experience using AI-enabled tooling to improve engineering outcomes, along with awareness of Python or similar programming languages used within enterprise automation ecosystems, will also be advantageous.

You'll also demonstrate:

  • Experience gathering, analysing and interpreting data and insight to support decision-making
  • The ability to build relationships, collaborate effectively and influence stakeholders
  • Knowledge of change and project management principles, methodologies and ways of working
  • An understanding of NatWest businesses and the strategic priorities that drive transformation activity
  • The ability to connect business strategy to transformation initiatives, with an understanding of business models, operating models and customer outcomes
  • A strong security mindset will be important, alongside exposure to technologies such as firewalls, web applications firewalls, load balancers and access controls
