Procurement Manager - #2129658
Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited
Your new company
Our client is operating a nationwide network of depots and specialist divisions supporting the construction, infrastructure, utilities, energy and industrial sectors. As part of their continued growth and procurement transformation journey, they are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to play a key role in shaping sourcing strategy, supplier relationships and commercial performance across the business.
Your new role
The role of Procurement Manager is pivotal to the Group's ongoing development, growth and future success. They require an experienced procurement professional with a sustained track record of delivering purchasing goals in service, quality and cost reduction, who also brings hands-on experience of adopting strong category management principles. Develop and maintain a multi-supplier sourcing and category strategy across the plant and equipment fleet, balancing the resilience of dual/multi-sourcing against the pricing and service benefits of deeper, consolidated OEM partnerships. Own and negotiate agreements with key suppliers, securing consistent pricing, service levels and commercial terms across the Group. Evaluate and select suppliers using whole-life / total cost of ownership analysis - covering purchase price, parts and servicing costs, fuel or energy efficiency, residual and buy-back value, and warranty terms - rather than purchase price in isolation.
What you'll need to succeed
Significant experience in a Procurement Manager role managing a team. Strong category management, sourcing and supplier negotiation expertise. Experience managing complex supplier relationships and commercial contracts. Proven ability to deliver cost savings and procurement improvements. Strong analytical capabilities with experience interpreting spent data and identifying opportunities for improvement. Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence at all levels of an organisation. Previous experience leading or contributing to procurement transformation programmes. MCIPS qualified or currently working towards qualification. Experience within plant hire, equipment rental, construction, infrastructure, engineering or another asset-intensive industry. Knowledge of ERP, P2P or procurement technology systems. Experience implementing category management and supplier relationship management frameworks.
What you'll get in return
This role offers a very competitive salary with a bonus paid on company and personal performance. They will match your contributions plus 1% from a minimum of 6% to a max of 11% after 5 years' service. Opportunity to purchase additional holidays too.
