Interim Head of Human Resources

Central Belt Scotland | Hybrid Working | Salary up to £90,000

Reed HR are delighted to be partnering exclusively with our client to recruit an experienced Interim Head of Human Resources. This is a key leadership appointment with responsibility for leading a sizeable HR function and driving strategic people initiatives across the organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior HR leader with a proven track record of leading large-scale HR operations, organisational transformation programmes, and stakeholder engagement within a unionised environment. There is also potential for this role to develop into a permanent opportunity for the right individual.

The Role

Reporting into the executive leadership team, you will provide strategic direction and operational leadership across all aspects of the people function, leading a team of 18+ HR professionals, including 3 direct reports.

Key areas of responsibility include:

• Leading and developing a high-performing HR function
• Driving organisational transformation and change initiatives
• Overseeing Recruitment, Payroll & Benefits, and HR Shared Services
• Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders and trade unions
• Ensuring effective people strategies are aligned to organisational objectives
• Supporting workforce planning, employee engagement, and organisational development
• Delivering continuous improvement across HR processes and service delivery

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Significant experience leading a large HR function at a senior level
• Demonstrable experience delivering organisational transformation and change programmes
• Strong leadership and people management experience, including managing multi-disciplinary teams
• Experience working within a unionised environment and engaging with trade union representatives
• Strategic HR expertise combined with a hands-on, delivery-focused approach
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
