An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Estimator to join a leading Tier 1 infrastructure contractor delivering major rail, civil engineering and infrastructure projects across Scotland.

This is a senior position within an established pre-construction team, leading the pricing and delivery of complex infrastructure tenders while supporting business growth across rail and non-rail sectors.

The Role

You'll take ownership of complex tenders from initial enquiry through to final submission, working closely with senior leadership, commercial teams and operational managers to develop winning bid strategies.

This role offers the opportunity to mentor junior estimators while contributing to the continuous improvement of estimating processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of major civil engineering tenders.

  • Produce detailed First Principles estimates.

  • Manage multiple tenders simultaneously.

  • Coordinate supplier and subcontractor pricing exercises.

  • Review drawings, specifications and contract documentation.

  • Identify commercial risks and value engineering opportunities.

  • Prepare tender reports and present submissions to senior management.

  • Support junior estimators and contribute to team development.

  • Work collaboratively with operational and commercial teams to secure new business.

About You

We're looking for someone with:

  • Significant estimating experience within Civil Engineering.

  • Proven experience pricing complex infrastructure projects.

  • Strong First Principles estimating capability.

  • Experience within rail, highways, utilities, power or multidisciplinary infrastructure.

  • Excellent commercial judgement and analytical skills.

  • Experience using estimating software and Microsoft Excel.

  • Ability to lead tenders and manage competing priorities.
