Are you an experienced Legal Cashier looking to join the finance team of a leading UK law firm?
I’m recruiting for a Legal Cashier to join an established Cashroom team, ideally based in Glasgow, although candidates based in Edinburgh will also be considered.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong cashiering experience who enjoys working in a busy, professional environment where accuracy, organisation and attention to detail are essential.
Previous experience within a law firm or legal finance environment would be particularly advantageous.
The Role Working closely with the Cashroom Manager and wider finance team, you will help ensure the accurate and efficient processing of financial transactions relating to both client and firm accounts.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Recording day-to-day client and office financial transactions
• Identifying and allocating client receipts
• Processing client and office payments
• Raising and paying in cheques
• Processing deposit account transactions, including lodgements, uplifts, closures and new accounts
• Allocating payments against fees
• Processing balance reports
• Reconciling client balances and deposit accounts
• Investigating residual balances
• Working with banking platforms and online banking systems
• Maintaining accurate supporting documentation for ledger postings
• Providing additional support across the Cashroom when required
About You You will ideally have previous experience working within a busy cashiering or legal finance environment, together with excellent numerical skills and a high level of accuracy.
Experience within a law firm would be desirable, alongside a good understanding of:
• SRA Accounts Rules
• Anti-Money Laundering requirements
• VAT
• Client and office ledgers
• Financial controls and reconciliations
You should be confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and comfortable managing competing priorities and deadlines.
This role would suit a proactive, professional and collaborative Legal Cashier who takes pride in providing a consistently high-quality service.
