Clerk of Works - Demolition or Fire Safety - #2149228

My client is one of Scotland's largest local authorities with healthy long term capital programs both within housing, education and community facilities.
They have an ambitious housing regeneration project which includes new build and re-modernisation of housing and flatted developments over a 25-year period.
They are currently seeking Clerk of Works to join their team for a period of six months or more to join their multi-disciplinary design and project management team.
The Clerk of Works will play a central role in monitoring the delivery of the investment and regeneration programmes, making sure our projects are delivered to the highest standards.
Major programmes include:

• Fire-safety upgrades to 36 tower blocks, including fire doors, smoke detection and sprinklers.
• Demolition of 36 tower blocks over 25 years.
• Dementia-friendly Retirement Plus upgrades.
• Energy-efficiency and renovation works.
• Large-scale electrical and communications upgrades.

You will link design and on-site delivery teams, spending substantial time on site to monitor progress and compliance with approved designs, technical standards and safety requirements. You will advise contractors, resolve issues, keep accurate records, report regularly and identify risks early.
The posts specialise in demolition and fire safety.
Applicants need relevant technical inspection or delivery experience and an SVQ Level 3, HNC, Apprenticeship or equivalent in a building-related discipline.
Membership of, or willingness to join, a relevant professional body is desirable.
Strong communication skills and knowledge of current Building Regulations and health and safety law are essential.
Local authority experience in refurbishment and major capital programmes is highly desirable.
