Robert Half is seeking a commercially minded Management Accountant to join a growing Finance function within a business in Glasgow.
This is a broad role offering exposure to both the financial and operational sides of the organisation. The successful candidate will take ownership of a range of month-end, reporting and financial control activities, while working closely with colleagues across the wider business to understand performance, manage costs and support informed decision-making.
The role would suit an ambitious accountant who enjoys working in a hands-on environment and is keen to develop their commercial understanding. Key Responsibilities· Take ownership of the monthly reporting process for a number of areas of the business, ensuring management information is delivered accurately and on schedule.
· Complete regular balance sheet reviews and reconciliations, investigating and resolving any discrepancies and ensuring supporting records are maintained.
· Assist with the organisation's indirect and direct tax requirements, including VAT submissions and supporting wider corporation tax activity.
· Monitor balances between group entities and ensure intercompany transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
· Support the year-end close process by preparing schedules, providing information for audit and assisting with statutory reporting requirements.
· Maintain forward-looking cash flow information, helping the business understand upcoming funding and liquidity requirements.
· Work alongside budget holders to track financial performance, investigate variances and contribute to ongoing forecasting activity.
· Prepare and record payroll-related journals, ensuring costs are appropriately allocated between projects and overhead functions.
· Build effective relationships with operational, procurement, commercial, production and supply chain colleagues, providing financial analysis and insight where required.
· Maintain accurate records of capital expenditure and fixed assets, including the calculation and recording of depreciation.
· Take responsibility for month-end adjustments including accruals, prepayments, lease accounting and related journals.
· Assist with reporting across multiple currencies, including monitoring foreign exchange movements and processing intercompany recharges.
· Compile financial information required for grant applications and claims, working with relevant external organisations as necessary.
· Act as a key finance contact for external auditors and professional advisers, supporting work relating to audit, taxation, transfer pricing and other financial matters.
· Look for opportunities to strengthen existing processes, improve the quality of management information and enhance financial controls.
· Provide additional support to the senior Finance team and assist with wider projects and ad hoc requirements as the business develops.
Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Experience· Part-qualified or recently qualified accountant, ideally studying towards or qualified through ACCA, CIMA or ICAS, with approximately 3-5 years' relevant management accounting experience.
· Strong understanding of month-end accounting, budgeting, forecasting and analysing financial performance.
· Comfortable working with established ERP/accounting platforms. Experience with systems such as Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle or similar would be advantageous.
· Experience within an international or multi-entity organisation would be beneficial.
· Previous exposure to stock, inventory accounting or a manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
· Confident communicating financial information to colleagues outside of Finance and building effective relationships across the business.
· Strong analytical ability with a methodical approach and high level of accuracy.
Salary for this role will sit in a range of £40,000 - £50,000 + benefits
