Quantity Surveyor – Civils & Groundworks

Location: Glasgow
Salary: £60,000 – £75,000 DOE

An established civil engineering and groundworks contractor is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in civils, groundworks or enabling works, with the ability to manage projects commercially from procurement through to final account.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial aspects of civils and groundworks projects.
• Prepare and submit valuations, variations and payment applications.
• Manage subcontractor accounts, payments and applications.
• Monitor project costs, budgets and forecasts.
• Procure subcontractors and materials.
• Review and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Identify and manage variations and additional works.
• Prepare and agree final accounts.
• Monitor project performance against budget.
• Produce accurate commercial reports and cost forecasts.
• Liaise with project managers, site teams, clients and subcontractors.
• Ensure contractual and commercial obligations are maintained.
• Support the wider commercial team with tendering and pricing where required.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civils and/or groundworks.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes.
• Experience managing valuations, variations, subcontractors and final accounts.
• Good understanding of project costs, budgets and forecasting.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and commercial awareness.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification or equivalent experience.
• Experience with NEC and/or JCT contracts would be advantageous.
