We’re recruiting a Management Accountant for an ambitious, award-winning creative business in the heart of Glasgow. This is an opportunity to take real ownership, work closely with senior leadership and understand the projects and commercial decisions behind the numbers.
Known for producing high-quality content and attracting some of the industry’s best talent, the organisation offers an exciting setting for a recently qualified accountant looking to broaden their experience.
Working closely with the fractional Finance Director, you’ll take ownership of management accounting and reporting, helping senior leaders understand performance and make informed decisions. You’ll also manage a Finance/AP Assistant, with exposure across project finance, corporate reporting, audit and wider finance initiatives.
There’s plenty of variety, visibility and meaningful responsibility, giving you the opportunity to build your commercial confidence and shape how the finance function works.
The role is predominantly office based, with an element of flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the preparation of monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and supporting analysis
- Deliver clear, insightful monthly reporting for senior management and external stakeholders
- Take ownership of balance sheet reconciliations, investigating variances and resolving discrepancies
- Prepare and post payroll journals across projects and overhead cost centres
- Manage monthly accruals, prepayments, revenue deferrals and associated journals
- Prepare UK VAT returns and relevant international tax submissions
- Support revenue and royalty reporting
- Maintain the fixed asset register and calculate monthly depreciation
- Support statutory accounts, year-end reporting and audit deliverables
- Line manage the Finance/AP Assistant, supporting their development
- Contribute to finance projects and identify opportunities to improve processes
About You
You’ll ideally be newly or recently qualified in ACA, ACCA or CIMA, with strong management accounting and financial reporting experience, and an interest in getting closer to the commercial side of a business.
Experience in TV, entertainment, media, production, the creative industries or another project-based environment would be advantageous.
You’ll also bring:
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and an up-to-date understanding of accounting standards
- An analytical approach, with the curiosity to investigate what’s driving the numbers
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence using accounting or ERP systems
- Ideally, experience with Microsoft Business Central, Dynamics 365 or a similar platform
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with finance and non-finance colleagues
- A proactive approach and confidence taking ownership of your workload
- The ability to work independently and recognise when to seek guidance
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- The ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced business
