Are you an experienced accountancy professional who is passionate about technical quality – but equally passionate about developing people and improving how things are done?

I’m working with a growing and ambitious accountancy and advisory firm, to appoint a Quality & Technical Senior Manager within its Business Advisory Services team.

This is not simply a role checking files and identifying errors.

You'll play a key role in raising technical and quality standards across BAS, understanding why issues occur, identifying recurring themes and helping create a stronger right-first-time culture across the department.

Working closely with the business and Managers, you'll take ownership of areas including:

• Risk-based hot and cold file reviews
• Identifying material accounting, tax, regulatory and quality risks
• Spotting recurring issues and addressing their root causes
• Providing practical technical guidance on more complex matters
• Coaching Managers and senior team members to become stronger reviewers
• Designing and delivering technical training and workshops
• Improving processes, consistency and efficiency across BAS
• Using data and insight to identify where further intervention or development is needed
• Helping shape technical standards and quality frameworks across the wider team.

You'll be a qualified Chartered Accountant or equivalent with strong technical accounting knowledge and significant experience within an accountancy practice or professional services environment.

You'll ideally have substantial experience in accounts preparation, review and quality assurance, together with the judgement to distinguish between genuinely material issues and those that don't warrant unnecessary layers of review.

Just as importantly, you'll need to be someone who can coach rather than simply correct – making complex technical issues understandable and helping others develop their own confidence and judgement.

This could particularly suit an experienced Senior Manager / Technical Manager / Quality Manager / Accounts Senior Manager who enjoys the technical side of practice but wants the opportunity to influence quality and capability across a much broader function.

This is an opportunity to move beyond traditional technical review and have a genuine voice in how the BAS function develops.

You'll work closely with senior leadership, influence the operating model, develop future leaders and help shape a more technology-enabled and insight-led approach to Business Advisory.
