Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited

Your new company
Join a highly respected and purpose-driven organisation with a strong reputation for supporting professionals across the healthcare sector. With a collaborative culture and a commitment to strong governance, the organisation is investing in its risk management capability and is seeking an experienced Operational Risk Manager to provide interim support on a week-to-week contract basis.

The role is focused on delivering key operational risk and governance projects during a busy period of change. Ideally, the successful candidate will be based in Glasgow on a hybrid basis with two days per week in the office. However, candidates with strong financial services experience, particularly within insurance, will also be considered on a predominantly remote basis.

Your new role
As Operational Risk Manager, you will play a pivotal role within the Governance team, working closely with senior stakeholders across the business to identify, assess, monitor and manage operational risks. You will support the continued development of a robust risk culture by ensuring effective risk assessment, reporting, control testing and mitigation activities are embedded throughout the organisation.

A key responsibility of the role will be overseeing the rollout and implementation of a new Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) system. You will work with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure successful adoption of the platform, improve risk reporting capabilities, enhance data quality and support the integration of risk management processes into day-to-day operations.

You will lead the continued improvement of operational risk monitoring and reporting, undertake gap analyses, develop key risk indicators and provide insight into emerging and existing risks. You will also prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership and governance committees, helping to inform strategic decision-making and business planning activities.

What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will have previous experience working within a risk management environment, ideally within financial services, insurance, healthcare or another regulated sector. You will have a solid understanding of operational risk frameworks and be comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels of an organisation.

A degree or relevant professional qualification is desirable, alongside membership of a professional body such as the Institute of Risk Management (IRM) or Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). Experience leading or supporting the implementation of a GRC system, risk management software or a similar business-critical platform would be highly advantageous.

You will possess excellent analytical, report-writing and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to a range of audiences. A proactive mindset, strong organisational skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively will be key to your success.

What you'll get in return
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-respected organisation and make an immediate impact through a key operational risk and systems implementation project. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders, take ownership of meaningful deliverables and play a central role in enhancing governance and risk processes across the organisation. The role offers a competitive day rate, flexibility around location, and the opportunity to work on a significant change programme within a supportive and collaborative environment.

This position would suit an experienced risk professional who enjoys project-based work and is looking for an opportunity to apply their operational risk and systems implementation expertise in a hands-on interim capacity.
