IT Infrastructure Engineer - #2171125
Leo Recruitment Limited
IT Infrastructure Engineer – Full-time, Permanent
Location: Glasgow – 4 days per week onsite, with 1 day working from home
Salary: £30,000–£35,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits
The Opportunity:
If you work in IT support or as an IT Infrastructure Engineer, there’s a good chance you’ve found yourself at one of two extremes.
You’re either spending most of your time reacting to issues, helping users and keeping things moving, but rarely getting the opportunity to get underneath the problem and improve the technology behind it.
Or you’re working in infrastructure, but your role has become so specialised that you only see one small part of the wider environment.
This role sits somewhere much more interesting in the middle.
You’ll be part of a hands-on technology team, supporting colleagues while taking real ownership across the core infrastructure that keeps the business running. Servers, virtualisation, networks, identity, devices, security, backups and physical data-centre equipment all form part of the picture.
It is not just about keeping the lights on. You’ll have the variety of day-to-day technical problem-solving, alongside the chance to improve resilience, modernise infrastructure, introduce new technology and build better ways of doing things.
So, if you enjoy understanding how technology fits together, getting to the root of problems and want a role where your ideas can make a visible difference, there is plenty here to get involved with.
Why This Role Stands Out:
- Salary is £30-35,000 per annum depending on experience
- Annual salary reviews with regular market benchmarking
- Hybrid working – 1 day per week remote from home
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- 2 volunteer days per year
- Pension scheme – 4% employer, 4% employee contributions, plus optional extra 1% matched
- Health Cash Plan including 24/7 GP access and consultations
- Dental and optical cover
- Death in Service cover (4x salary) plus extras, including will writing
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Cycle to work scheme
- Discretionary bonus
- Modern office environment and collaborative culture
- Team events, knowledge sharing and continuous learning opportunities
- High levels of autonomy, trust and ownership
- Structured training and development opportunities to help you grow
- The opportunity to influence technical strategy within a growing technology business
What You’ll Be Doing as an IT Infrastructure Engineer
- Supporting and improving Windows Server, Hyper-V and core network infrastructure.
- Maintaining Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Entra ID and Intune.
- Working with physical servers, networking equipment and three core data-centre environments.
- Supporting backup, disaster recovery and security initiatives.
- Contributing to infrastructure projects, new deployments and technology improvements.
- Troubleshooting infrastructure issues, identifying root causes and improving how things are done.
What You’ll Bring as an IT Infrastructure Engineer:
- Strong, hands-on Windows Server administration experience.
- Practical experience with Hyper-V virtualisation.
- Solid knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
- Strong networking knowledge, including configuring and troubleshooting network infrastructure.
- Experience working with physical servers and data-centre environments, rather than solely cloud-based infrastructure.
- A broad infrastructure background, strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to travel to data-centre sites when required (full driving license is essential)
Desirable Experience
- Exposure to Intune, storage, backups and Linux.
- Experience with Cisco or Fortigate technologies, Docker or Jira.
- Knowledge of SQL, XML or JSON.
Why You Should Apply:
If you have built broad infrastructure experience and enjoy being a hands-on technical all-rounder, this is a role where that breadth will be valued.
You’ll have responsibility for business-critical systems, but you’ll also have the scope to improve environments, introduce technology, contribute to infrastructure projects and build the systems you support.
If that sounds like the kind of infrastructure role you have been looking for, apply now or get in touch for a confidential, no-pressure conversation to find out more.
We welcome applications from neurodivergent candidates and are happy to discuss reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process.
Please note that telephone calls are scheduled by appointment only.
