Scottish Cycling
Head of Finance & Business Operations, Scottish Cycling
Location – Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, Glasgow International Arena, and hybrid working
Salary – Circa £60,000
Scottish Cycling is the national governing body for cycling in Scotland, dedicated to inspiring and supporting everyone to enjoy riding a bike and realise their full potential. From grassroots participation to elite performance, we work with clubs, volunteers, athletes and partners to develop a thriving, inclusive and successful cycling community.
This is an exciting time for our sport. Building on the success of the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships, and with the Tour de France Grand Depart in Edinburgh next summer, we have a tremendous opportunity to inspire new participants, strengthen our sporting pathways and build a lasting legacy.
Our strategy, Developing a Nation of Cyclists, sets out our ambitions for the future. Delivering these ambitions requires strong leadership, financial sustainability and effective governance.
We are now seeking an exceptional Head of Finance & Business Operations to join our Senior Leadership Team and play a central role in the continued development of Scottish Cycling.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with the Board, you will provide leadership across financial management, governance, risk, compliance and business operations. You will help ensure that our resources are managed effectively, our systems and processes support organisational performance, and we have the operational resilience to deliver our strategic priorities.
This is a broad and influential role, offering the opportunity to contribute to strategic decision-making while maintaining a practical, hands-on approach to operational delivery. You will lead and develop colleagues, build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and champion continuous improvement across the organisation.
We are looking for a qualified accountant (ICAS, CIMA or equivalent) with substantial financial management experience and a proven track record in general management or organisational leadership. You will bring sound judgement, strong governance and risk management expertise, excellent communication skills and the ability to balance competing priorities in a busy and varied environment.
Equally important will be your personal qualities. You will be collaborative, adaptable and resilient, with the confidence to influence at a senior level and the willingness to get involved in the detail when required.
While experience within sport would be welcome, it is not essential. We are keen to hear from talented leaders across the public, private and third sectors who can bring fresh perspectives and share our commitment to making a positive difference.
This is an opportunity to help shape the future of Scottish Cycling and contribute to the continued growth and success of cycling across Scotland.
