Principal Civil Engineer (Water)

Granite is supporting a key customer to source a Principal Civil Engineer with a water bias.

This role will lead the delivery of complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects, providing technical expertise across the full project lifecycle from feasibility and concept design through to construction and commissioning. The role involves managing multidisciplinary design teams, overseeing engineering standards, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining high levels of quality, safety, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and delivery of water and wastewater treatment, pipeline, pumping station, and infrastructure projects.
• Provide technical leadership, review engineering outputs, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Manage project budgets, programmes, and resources to achieve successful project outcomes.
• Support business development activities, including client engagement and proposal preparation.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and promote best practice across project teams.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, regulators, and stakeholders throughout project delivery.

Requirements:

• Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership.
• Significant experience within the UK water sector, delivering infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of water industry standards, asset design, and project delivery methodologies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
