Payments Business Analyst - #2178105

Location :- Bournemouth or Glasgow

We are looking for a Payments Business Analyst with strong understanding of payment processing, ledgering, messaging standards and data. The role requires someone who can translate payment flows and business requirements into clear functional/data specifications, while being comfortable working directly with databases and Databricks to perform data analysis and validation.

Key Responsibilities

• Strong understanding of end-to-end Payments processing, including payment lifecycle, clearing, settlement and ledger/bookkeeping flows.
• Good knowledge of ISO 20022, SEPA and payment messaging formats, including mapping between different message/data structures.
• Understand ledgering/posting concepts and trace transactions across payment and accounting systems.
• Connect to databases and Databricks and independently query data using SQL for analysis and investigation.
• Perform data validation and reconciliation across source, intermediate and target systems.
• Analyse existing data models, database tables, APIs/messages and define appropriate source-to-target mappings.
• Create detailed functional specifications, data mappings, field-level rules and acceptance criteria.
• Work closely with Product, Engineering and QA teams to translate business requirements into implementable technical specifications.
• Support AI and specification-driven development, helping create structured requirements/specifications that can be consumed effectively by AI-assisted engineering processes.
• Analyse defects and production issues through data interrogation and transaction tracing.
• Perform/support functional, data and integration testing, including validation of payment messages and ledger entries.
• Support developers and testers during implementation, testing and production validation.
