Sales & Marketing Manager - #2178616
Arthouse Glasgow
Hotel Sales & Marketing Manager
Arthouse Glasgow
Reports to: General Manager
At Arthouse, we like a full house, a good introduction and a bright idea that turns into a booking.
We’re looking for a hands-on Hotel Sales & Marketing Manager who can win business, develop our accounts and help make Arthouse a hotel people discover, recommend and return to.
Sales will be your primary focus, alongside marketing, online reputation, partnerships and our Arthouse Residents Programme.
Working with the General Manager, Revenue Manager and hotel team, you’ll turn commercial priorities into practical short-, medium- and long-term plans. You’ll be accountable for agreed targets, a productive pipeline and activity that generates measurable results.
You’ll be a team player who is comfortable working independently, taking initiative and following things through. From pitching to a corporate booker to hosting a Residents event, you’ll be ready to roll up your sleeves and get involved.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Proactive sales and business development
• Generate business across corporate, medical and healthcare, entertainment and production, leisure, agency and group segments.
• Identify target accounts, reach decision-makers and convert opportunities into confirmed bookings.
• Carry out sales calls, appointments, site inspections, presentations and networking activity.
• Manage enquiries, proposals and follow-up promptly, taking opportunities through to conversion.
• Develop business for quieter weekdays, Sundays and seasonal need periods.
• Build relationships with travel management companies, agents, DMCs, venues and relevant premium travel partners.
• Represent Arthouse at local business events, trade activity and industry gatherings.
Account management
• Own the day-to-day management of negotiated accounts and commercial relationships.
• Develop account plans with production targets, regular contact and clear actions.
• Coordinate corporate rate agreements, contracts and renewals within agreed pricing and approval guidelines.
• Monitor room nights, revenue and profitability, addressing underperforming accounts and identifying growth opportunities.
• Maintain accurate records of contacts, agreements, commitments and relationship history.
• Work with Guest Relations and operations to deliver account requirements and encourage repeat business.
Commercial planning and accountability
• Deliver agreed sales targets and contribute to occupancy, achieved rate and revenue objectives.
• Maintain a rolling 90-day plan addressing immediate opportunities, need dates and pipeline conversion.
• Build a three- to twelve-month sales and marketing calendar covering account development, campaigns, contracting and partnerships.
• Contribute to longer-term plans that strengthen the hotel’s market position, account base and repeat business.
• Maintain a live pipeline with opportunity values, next actions and expected decision dates.
• Support budgeting and forecasting with realistic account and business projections.
• Review pickup, booking pace, segment mix and competitor activity with the General Manager and Revenue Manager.
• Identify gaps against plan early and deliver measurable recovery actions.
• Manage agreed expenditure and assess the return from commercial activity.
Marketing and direct bookings
• Coordinate a marketing calendar that supports commercial priorities and reflects Arthouse’s identity.
• Keep website content, offers, imagery and hotel information accurate and engaging.
• Coordinate social media, email communications and sales materials with colleagues and appointed partners.
• Develop campaigns and packages that encourage direct bookings, repeat stays and additional guest spend.
• Set clear campaign objectives, audiences, budgets and measures of success.
• Work with PR and creative partners on stories, media opportunities and collaborations.
• Track campaign enquiries, bookings and revenue, using results to improve future activity.
• Support pre-arrival promotion of breakfast, upgrades and hotel experiences.
Reputation management
• Monitor reviews and feedback across Google, Tripadvisor, OTAs and other relevant channels.
• Coordinate timely, personal responses, involving the General Manager and operational heads in sensitive complaints.
• Identify recurring praise and concerns, sharing findings and following up on operational actions.
• Support appropriate requests for guest feedback and reviews.
• Use positive feedback and coverage in marketing where permissions allow.
• Escalate significant reputational issues promptly.
Arthouse Residents Programme
• Plan a programme connecting the hotel with guests, neighbours and Glasgow’s creative community.
• Develop cultural, food and drink, wellbeing and creative experiences suited to our spaces and audience.
• Source and manage collaborators, hosts and local partners.
• Agree objectives, budgets, responsibilities and measures of success for each activation.
• Coordinate dates, invitations, promotion, bookings, RSVPs and guest lists with sufficient lead time.
• Work with operations and Celentano’s where relevant to agree capacity, staffing, service and costs.
• Host or support events and review attendance, feedback, revenue and repeat engagement.
Partnerships and hotel-wide revenue
• Build relationships with Glasgow’s businesses, cultural organisations, venues and neighbourhood partners.
• Host agency visits, FAM trips and client appointments with clear objectives and follow-up.
• Develop viable packages around accommodation, the lounge, food and drink and local experiences.
• Support suitable private-use, group and entertainment opportunities.
• Agree pricing, margins and operational responsibilities before making commitments.
• Help grow breakfast uptake, upgrades and additional guest spend.
Teamwork and reporting
• Play an active part in hotel life, staying close to guests, colleagues and the experience being sold.
• Take initiative and work independently within agreed priorities.
• Support colleagues when needed while keeping commercial commitments on track.
• Communicate confirmed business, account requirements, campaigns and events clearly.
• Maintain organised shared files and accessible account information.
• Provide concise weekly updates and contribute to monthly commercial reviews.
• Follow actions through and raise barriers early with proposed solutions.
OTA and online distribution management
Working in conjunction with the Revenue Manager:
• Keep OTA descriptions, room information, facilities, policies and photography accurate and consistent.
• Review listing quality, visibility and conversion, addressing content gaps and opportunities.
• Maintain OTA account relationships and jointly evaluate promotions.
• Coordinate approved campaigns in line with the revenue strategy.
• Review commission costs, discounts and channel contribution.
• Help resolve rate parity, availability, mapping and booking issues with the Revenue Manager and system partners.
The Revenue Manager leads pricing, inventory and distribution strategy. This role supports content, account relationships and agreed promotional activity.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
• Hotel sales or sales and marketing experience, ideally in boutique, lifestyle or upper-upscale hospitality.
• Evidence of personally winning business and growing productive accounts.
• Strong prospecting, negotiation, account management and follow-up skills.
• Confidence turning commercial objectives into practical plans.
• An understanding of digital marketing, direct bookings and reputation management.
• Experience with OTA extranets, working alongside revenue management.
• Confidence with pipelines, reporting and performance targets.
• The ability to organise partnerships, client hosting and small events.
• Clear communication, good judgement and attention to detail.
• A collaborative approach, initiative and the willingness to get involved.
• Availability for regular on-property working, client visits and occasional evening or weekend activity.
HOW SUCCESS WILL BE MEASURED
Agreed objectives will cover sales revenue and room nights, account growth and retention, pipeline conversion, business secured for need periods, campaign contribution, reputation activity, Residents Programme results and delivery of agreed plans and budgets. OTA activity will be reviewed jointly with the Revenue Manager.
