Finance Manager

Glasgow city centre | Predominantly office-based, with some flexibility

The company

Great television starts with an idea. Bringing it to the screen takes people who understand the business behind it.

This award-winning television production company has an established reputation for high-quality content and works with some of the best talent in the industry. With exciting projects in the pipeline and a positive outlook for 2027, it’s looking for a Finance Manager to take ownership of a broad finance role.

For someone who enjoys understanding how projects come together, this is an opportunity to get close to the work and make a visible contribution to a creative business.

The role

Working closely with the fractional Finance Director and senior leadership team, you’ll oversee the monthly management accounts and help colleagues understand what the numbers mean for the business.

There’s plenty of variety here. Alongside financial reporting, you’ll support project accounting and revenue reporting, with exposure to royalties and international tax submissions. You’ll also manage a Finance/AP Assistant, providing day-to-day guidance and supporting their development.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Owning the monthly management accounts, including the P&L, balance sheet and supporting analysis.
  • Delivering clear monthly reporting for senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Keeping balance sheet reconciliations up to date and investigating variances.
  • Preparing payroll journals across production projects and overhead cost centres.
  • Managing accruals, prepayments and revenue deferrals.
  • Preparing UK VAT returns and relevant international tax submissions.
  • Supporting revenue and royalty reporting.
  • Maintaining the fixed asset register and calculating monthly depreciation.
  • Supporting statutory accounts preparation, year-end reporting and the audit process.
  • Managing and developing the Finance/AP Assistant.
  • Improving finance processes and contributing to wider business projects.

You’ll have the independence to manage your workload, with an experienced Finance Director to turn to for guidance.

The candidate

You enjoy getting into the detail, but you also want to understand the bigger picture. You can produce accurate accounts and confidently explain the story behind them to colleagues outside finance.

You may be newly or recently qualified in ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or an experienced accountant qualified by experience. What matters is strong management accounting experience and the confidence to take ownership.

Experience in television, entertainment or another creative business would be useful. A background in a project-based environment would also translate well.

You’ll bring:

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and an up-to-date understanding of relevant accounting standards.
  • Experience preparing management accounts and delivering financial reporting.
  • Good analytical judgement, with the ability to investigate discrepancies and resolve problems.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence using accounting or ERP systems.
  • The ability to build relationships with finance and non-finance colleagues.
  • A proactive approach, with the judgement to know when to seek input.
  • Close attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.

Experience with Microsoft Business Central, Dynamics 365 or a similar system would be an advantage.

If you’re looking for a broad Finance Manager role where you can get to know the business behind the productions, this is an opportunity to become a valued part of an established Glasgow team.
