Role Details:
This role requires an engineering manager to lead a multi-disciplinary team to manage and align all Design Authority (DA) requirements and activities. The role will include the management of production, upkeep and implementation of the Shiplift Safety Justification Plan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production, upkeep and implementation of the Shiplift Safety Justification Plan.
- Manage engineering support to each of the Shiplift programmes of work.
- Liaise and consult with stakeholders throughout project life cycles to ensure DA requirements are captured and DA activities are appropriately managed.
- Ensure all work is conducted to site Safety Management Arrangements, processes and procedures.
- Provide guidance and support to the Lead Safety Case and Design Engineers.
- Support programme optioneering processes.
- Ensure system specific Learning from Experience (LfE) is communicated within the engineering team.
- Support a culture of collaboration and openness across the organisation.
- Preparation and delivery of safety case and engineering presentations with regards to Shiplift.
- Support programme delivery ensuring effective communication within programme team and key stakeholders.
- Comply with all Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality policies, procedures, work instructions and risk assessments and support the continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality on Site.
Key Requirements:
Essential:
- Detailed knowledge of regulatory compliance to nuclear standards and site Authorised Conditions.
Desirable:
- Detailed knowledge of regulatory compliance to nuclear industry standards and site Authorised Conditions including DA responsibilities
- Technical assurance activities.
- Project engineering, including site implementation and integration.
- Compliance with legislation and standards.
- Working within a highly regulated environment.
- Production of technical documentation e.g. technical reports, specifications, technical queries etc.
- Liaising with a range of stakeholders.
- Basic health and safety training for site visits.
- Nuclear safety case
- Working fully autonomously and as part of a team.
- Supervision and mentoring of engineering team.
- Good attention to detail.
- Excellent organisation and communication (written and verbal) skills.
Qualifications:
- Degree level in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline
- Chartered Engineer status or able to attain chartered status (demonstration of continued professional development).
