How you'll make an impact
- To provide accounting expertise to ensure seamless integration into BAU activities, including review of SPA and liaising with M&A and Integration teams and vendor, within a growing organisation.
- Detailed integration analysis, including process mapping and discovery documentation.
- SOP preparation and handover of applicable tasks to offshore team.
- To assist the Accounting Manager in production of accurate acquisition management accounts, and relevant commentary, within the tight reporting deadlines.
- Build positive relationships with senior stakeholders including the Finance Directors, Senior Finance Managers and relevant operational business heads, acting as key contact during month end close.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations to verify the accuracy of management accounts and perform monthly, quarterly and year-to-date variance analysis to budget and prior year on P&L.
- Assistance in production of the annual budget, reviewing assumptions and building a detailed monthly budget for the acquired business, supported by the Accounting Manager and reviewed with the Divisional FD.
- Production and review of other ad hoc reporting on expense items as requested by Business heads and senior finance staff.
- Assistance in production of statutory board packs and financial accounts
- Ensure SOX requirements are fully met.
- Assistance and support in response to external and internal audit requests.
- Liaising with offshore processing team to control posting of month end journal transactions and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Liaising with Finance Business Partners and other departments out with General Accounting team to provide support for queries as they arise.
- Build relationships within the wider General Accounting team, and across other regional teams.
- Produce ad-hoc reports and completion of technical tasks for the Accounting Manager and Senior Finance Manager as requested.
- Take all reasonable steps to ensure the part of the business for which you are accountable for demonstrably complies with applicable laws, rules, regulation, good governance and Gallagher’s shared values, in particular, putting clients at the heart of our business. If shortcomings are identified take responsibility for remedial action planning, and action in conjunction with the relevant experts within the firm.
About You
- Essential: CA, ACCA, or ACA qualification, coupled with a background in professional services or experience in a large and complex business environment
- Preferred: Experience with US GAAP and SOX compliance
- Preferred: Experience in acquisition accounting and/or project management, or in implementing new processes and controls
- Ability to prioritise tasks and meet demanding deadlines
- Adaptability to thrive in a dynamic environment
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Agility in handling multiple tasks and diverse environments
- Experience in process redesign and implementation
- Strong people management skills
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing abilities
- Strong organisational skills
- Must be eligible to work in the UK
