Job Opportunity: Lead Nurse for Cervical Screening in Mental Health Services

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, one of the UK's largest healthcare systems employing around 40,000 staff, is offering a fixed-term, part-time post for 12 months. The position involves working Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm (pro-rata), with location negotiable.


This is an exciting opportunity to lead and deliver a cervical screening service within mental health inpatient services across NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. The role involves strategic and operational leadership of a health inequalities project aimed at a vulnerable population.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the development and implementation of a new cervical screening service within mental health inpatient settings.

  2. Collaborate across healthcare boundaries with staff in Mental Health, Public Health, Primary, and Secondary Care.

  3. Provide specialist clinical assessment, advice, and support to patients and clinicians, ensuring evidence-based practice.

  4. Deliver education and training to healthcare professionals on cervical screening standards.

  5. Conduct audits and research activities to support continuous improvement.


Qualifications and Experience

  • Post-graduate level education in nursing or equivalent professional qualification.

  • Experience in delivering cervical screening according to National Education for Scotland Standards, with evidence of current practice and trauma-informed care.

  • Proven ability to work in multi-agency partnerships, with skills in quality improvement and change management.

  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and influencing skills.
