Role Details:


This role is client side based, providing direct leadership, oversight and direction to all engineering, safety case and requirements teams within the programme.  Accountable for delivery in accordance with the Safety Engineering Management Plan.


Key Responsibilities:




  • Engineering & Safety Case Leadership: Act as the controlling authority for all aspects of engineering and safety case delivery, ensuring regulatory acceptability.


  • Integrated Delivery: Oversee all system requirements, engineering, and safety case activities across the programme, including floating dock and shoreside infrastructure.


  • Regulatory Endorsement: Collaborate with the Design Authority to establish and gain approval for engineering, safety case, and requirements strategies.


  • Nuclear Baseline Management: Define and ensure staff roles within the programme are suitably qualified and experienced.


  • Contractual Involvement: Work with commercial leads to ensure engineering and safety case representation in procurement and delivery arrangements.


  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the senior engineering and safety case interface with Design Authority, Site Operations, and Regulators.


  • Team Leadership: Provide strong leadership to multidisciplinary teams, ensuring an integrated approach to design and safety case management.


Key Requirements:


Essential:



  • Familiarity in dealing with regulators (ideally nuclear or other comparable high consequence regulated environment).

  • Recent successful experience in the leadership, management and delivery of multi disciplined teams producing engineering designs, justification or substantiation and safety cases, ideally related to major infrastructure or complex engineering programmes.

  • Demonstrable experience (from more than one programme) within a senior engineering leadership role leading engineering on major infrastructure programmes or complex multidisciplined engineering programmes (preferably regulated).

  • Line management of engineering staff at chief engineering institution.


Desirable:



  • Desirable to have marine structures delivery or naval architecture experience.


Qualifications:



  • Chartered Engineer with full membership of a recognised engineering institution.
