The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday 0900 to 1700
An opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Health Care Support worker within the North East Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service. Glasgow Alcohol & Drug Recovery Service is committed to providing high quality care using an integrated model of care delivery. You would be working as part of a large team dealing with complex clients with drug and alcohol problems and associated physical and mental health problems. The Band 3 HCSW will work under the supervision of trained nurses, supporting the engagement and retention of vulnerable service users however you will also provide support to members of staff within the integrated team in ADRS. You will be expected to work closely with Children and Families and Criminal Justice Services amongst others. You should be highly motivated , committed and have excellent communication skills.
As part of a team, the HCSW will assertively outreach our hard to reach and vulnerable service users, using flexible and person centred approaches to engage them in care and treatment. The assertive outreach model will aim to reduce health inequalities and target service users most at risk.

- Provision of swift referral to Opiate Replacement Treatment
- Health interventions including alcohol/drug screening, drug toxicology screening, BAC assessment (breathalyser), and Blood Bourne Virus (BBV) testing.
- Supporting service users to identify recovery opportunities and working in close collaboration with Recovery Hubs and Recovery Communities.
- Supporting the transition from Access to other services.
- Quick response strategy to engage and support referrals from acute hospitals for patients who repeatedly attend hospital and are not engaging with community support services. This is to fill the unmet need of this population of people and close the inequality gap that persists despite other high quality alcohol and drug service developments in recent years. Key components of this role will include, risk assessment, relapse prevention, harm reduction and motivational interventions.
